The 2021 Annual - our Fun Day and AGM
This year's event was held at Kelly College, Tavistock, Devon - a beautiful school in fabulous surroundings.
It was held on 28th August. A full review of each year's event appears in that Winter's Nutwood Newsletter.
Here are some photos
Many members spent a couple of nights in Tavistock and our new Event Organiser, Charles Knape, had arranged some fun and games for the Friday evening.
After a lovely meal, there was an amazing Ruperty quiz, hosted by Mark Hackney, the wine flowed...
the Quiz Winning Team - the Squires - headed by Maurice Paterson
Saturday kicked off as usual with The Dealers' Bourse
Welcomed by the Dragon
Stuart was busy signing new annuals and spent time chatting to everyone
The Raffle Gnomes were busy selling tickets and the star prize was a beautiful piece of original artwork by Stuart
We were honoured to have the attendance of Tony O'Hare, Chairman of the British Origami Society.
Not only did Tony give wonderful origami demonstrations but he has joined the Followers!
There were interesting talks throughout the day:
Roger Coombes had polled those attending on their favourite annual cover - and why, and turned the results into a super presentation.
Jerry Reynolds talked to us about Rupert's Pedigree years.
John Beck's Road Show made an appearance and the super items on display included a BROWN-FACE 1973 annual which was brought along by Caroline Bott, Alfred's God-daughter, who also showed us the original artwork.
Adam Lovejoy brought along some interesting original artwork.
We also saw the original draft of Stuart's poster which he produced for Penzance for Rupert's Centenary
One very special event - the highlight of the day - was the inflating of the Rupert balloon:
The Annual Gala Dinner:
with a special little presentation to our Squire, Maurice, celebrating his 80th birthday!
A beautiful venue and a huge thankyou to Charles for pulling all together so expertly
