Alfred Bestall's second story appeared in the Daily Express in August 1935, and was quickly featured in black, white and red in the 1936 Rupert Annual.
The story later appeared in colour in the 1983 Annual.
The typical domestic scene which starts the story is a major reason why Rupert stories are so endearing to the reader.
In the paper in 1935, and those two Annual appearances, the story is Rupert's Autumn Adventure.
On starting in the Daily Express on 23rd September 2024, it has been called Rupert and the Autumn Adventure. Ah well....
The Rupert and the Secret Path story concluded after 54 episodes on Sunday 22nd September with Rupert being thanked for assisting the police to capture a spy.
