Starting in yesterday's (21st of october) Daily Express is the first ever showing in the newspaper of the lovely Alfred Bestall Story "Rupert and the Silent Dog".
This story was especially written for the Rupert Adventure Series Booklets and it appeared as the second story in Issue 12 from April 1952. It also later appeared in the appeared in the 1981 and 2022 Rupert Annuals.
The short adventure features Rupert with Bill Badger, who come across a cave living hermit that makes crossword puzzles, and who does not like being disturbed during his concentration to compile them in silence.
