Lovely to see a first ever newspaper appearance of Rupert and Poll Parrot which begins 3 September 2026 in the Daily Express.
This delightful story was written especially for the 1955 Rupert Annual by Alfred Bestall and the Annual pages also showed the Girl Guides holding Semaphore Flags at the top of each page to reveal a message for the reader!
The story was only ever reprinted for Okay Magazine during early 2007 and again in the 2022 Annual.
The short story takes place in the beautiful Nutwood countryside and features Girl Guides Pauline, Beryl & Janet, along with an unwell Sailor Sam, Dr Lion and of course Poll Parrot.
