Rupert in the Express, November 2025

20/11/2025 - Beginning in today’s Daily Express is the delightful Christmas adventure “Rupert and the Cough Drop” (B125), a story that originally appeared in the newspaper during Christmas 1950. This charming tale includes lovely appearances by the village postman, Podgy and Mrs Pig, Santa’s little helpers, and Santa himself, who is troubled by a very unwell reindeer. The story also features some truly memorable illustrations from Rupert’s festive Christmas Party, where he is joined by many of his closest friends for a wonderfully heart-warming celebration.

What stands out is that as of 13 November, the Express has changed the section with the comic strips. The Rupert illustrations are larger, but they are no longer neatly placed side by side; instead they are angled, with one rhyme line underneath and the other above. It looks rather messy and cramped. There is also now, above our bear, the word “comics” printed in an oversized font. Rupert stories certainly do not fall under that category. A real shame to see.

It would also be nice if the Express would update the text about ordering the annual Rupert annual. As of November 2025, it still says 2024! Fortunately, members can order the signed annual with the correct year in our webshop.
